UBS Visionaris and Sitawi recognize and invest in Brazilian social businesses

September 14, 2026

In 2004, UBS Bank partnered with Ashoka to recognize the work of outstanding social entrepreneurs in Brazil, also in collaboration with Sitawi – Finanças do Bem. Since then, the Visionaris – UBS Social Entrepreneur Award has annually supported and highlighted individuals who have chosen to transform social realities through their businesses.

According to the award's website, “a social entrepreneur is an extraordinary person who possesses the vision, creativity, and determination of a business entrepreneur, but uses these qualities to design systemic solutions aimed at tackling complex social problems.”

The Visionaris website features a summary of the work of every social entrepreneur nominated from 2012 to the present. In 2015, we were finalists alongside David Daniel Hertz, from Gastromotiva, Luís Fernando Guedes Pinto, from IMAFLORA – Institute for Forest and Agricultural Management and Certification and Mariza Maria de Jesus Vieira Soares, from Instituto Empreender. We emerged victorious with the nomination of Alice Freitas, co-founder of Rede Asta.

A Sitawi has produced an inspiring video about the importance of people in the impact we leave behind and how it transforms the world. Check it out:
