The insurer's Easter initiative indirectly benefited 90 young people with intellectual disabilities and over 1,000 artisans, while directly benefiting 2,150 employees.
In 2018, Sompo decided to bring the true meaning of Easter to life through a concrete initiative. This season of transformation and renewal is reflected in the gift that all 2,150 employees are receiving.
The packaging was developed by artisans from Rede Asta, a social enterprise dedicated to turning artisans into entrepreneurs and waste into products that are good, beautiful, and ethical. Made from leftover automotive fabric from a car manufacturer in São Paulo, what was once considered waste has been given a new beginning. Once the chocolate is gone, the packaging can be repurposed by whoever received it.
“It is a great satisfaction for us to know that people will receive a product that, besides being beautiful, generates income and helps take care of the environment.”, says Djenane, an artisan from the Charlotte group.

The chocolate eggs are a way to thank and recognize the efforts of everyone who contributes to the company's daily success. But they also provide self-esteem and income for the young people with intellectual disabilities at Adere who handmade every single chocolate.
"I am dedicating myself 100% to these Easter eggs. It is so rewarding to know that someone will enjoy what we make and that it will also help Adere, which needs resources to maintain its work and continue taking such good care of my son," says Jocimar, mother of Rafa, a young man supported by Adere.
The social and environmental initiative behind this gift benefited so many people and positively impacted so many lives that it truly embodies the deepest meaning of this holiday: transformation. On the Wednesday before Easter, employees received their gifts directly from the hands of those who made the eggs.

“I loved working on this initiative with you, Adere, and the network's artisans. You were punctual, delivered the quality we agreed upon, met all my requests, and were a pleasure to work with. The participation of the young people at Sompo was very special and added great value to the initiative. We achieved 100% of our goal.” Adriana Oliveira | Human Resources – Social Responsibility and Quality of Life Coordination at Sompo
