After much anticipation, on February 7th we opened our long-awaited Espaço Asta in Rio de Janeiro. With the most lively party in the Marvelous City approaching, we inaugurated it with carnival festivities to kick off the 2018 celebrations.
Denise Andrade led the first workshop at the Maker Space. Artisans, clients, and our team got into the party spirit, rolled up their sleeves, and created accessories to wear for carnival.
Alice Freitas, our co-founder, presented what Rede Asta has done and learned over its 12 years of existence and what our plans are for the future. She shared that in a few months we will launch the Entusiasta Platform! It is a way we found to pass on all the knowledge we have acquired about the Brazilian handmade market over the years to all artisans in Brazil. At Entusiasta, the handmade will meet the digital. (We will talk about it in more depth very soon; follow our posts so you don't miss out.)
The party atmosphere was constant throughout the event, and we had partners who made the celebration even happier. We couldn't fail to thank Gastromotiva for serving a delicious buffet to everyone present, and Coca-Cola Brasil for providing sodas and juices.
Espaço Asta will be open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 7 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm at Rua Gago Coutinho, 66 – Loja A | Laranjeiras – near the Largo do Machado metro station and right next to Parque Eduardo Guinle. At our new headquarters, you will find:
· A showroom to discover and purchase products full of transformation stories, made by Rede Asta artisans and partner brands that work in alignment with the same principles as we do.
· A product laboratory where our team and partner designers will co-produce collections and products with the artisans to be sold in the showroom. It will also be used to develop upcycling solutions for companies that wish to repurpose their waste and transform it into products with social and environmental impact.
· A maker space with craft workshops promoted by us with Rede Asta artisans and guest designers. In addition to renting the space and machinery for artisans, artists, and designers to produce and/or teach courses and workshops.
